Large Cents were minted from 1793 to 1857. They were minted in every year except 1815 because of a shortage of copper. There are seven major types:
- Chain 1793
- Wreath 1793
- Liberty Cap 1793 to 1796
- Draped Bust 1796 to 1807
- Classic Head 1808 to 1814
- Coronet Head 1816 to 1839
- Braided Hair 1840 to 1857
Personal Note: There is nothing quite like a RED uncirculated large cent. Frosty and lustrous. If I had worked at the Philadelphia mint during the production of Large Cents, I would have requested to be paid in new cents. I would have been broke, but happy!
